Who you are:
The Manager, Global Internships plays a key role in overseeing the operational management and
student placement within CIEE's Global Internship programs. This position is responsible for
implementing pre-placement and placement procedures to ensure a successful experience for
both students and supervisors.
What you'll do:
The role also includes significant responsibilities in training and supporting new and existing
CIEE staff, particularly at new centers and legacy sites launching internship programs for the first time.
Program Management
• Implement internship pre-placement and placement procedures.
• Refine and improve guidelines for internship placements and program delivery.
• Develop and enhance evaluation criteria for students and host organizations.
• Update and maintain Internship SOPs, Handbooks and Communication Templates.
Company Recruitment
• Develop and execute an employer recruitment strategy aligned with organizational expansion vision and goals.
• Lead strategic efforts in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
• Define and implement recruitment strategies to meet projected placement goals.
• Analyze trends, opportunities, and competitors to maintain a strongunderstanding of workforce development.
• Manage employer partnerships to ensure the highest level of student satisfaction.
• Pitch and develop strategic partnerships that drive student and program success.
• Occasionally, travel to destination to support the local team to make connections, recruit employers, and train local staff.
Placement Strategy
• Collaborate with Global Operations and key stakeholders to identify key sectors and priorities for student placements.
• Coordinate with internship staff across multiple locations to ensure alignment.
• Advocate employer interests to ensure successful placements and positive experiences for both students and host organizations.
Staff Training and Support
• Create and deliver training workshops for new and current CIEE Internships staff,
including those at new centers and legacy sites launching internship programs.
• Develop materials and support workshops for internship program delivery.
• Maintain regular contact with local sites through biweekly office hours.
• Share best practices for using Salesforce in internship management with local sites.
Operational and Technical Support
• Collaborate with the IT team to enhance internship reporting processes in Salesforce.
• Identify and implement technical solutions to streamline operations.
• Ability to download, transform, and analyze large datasets extracted from Salesforce reports, specifically requiring competence in generating and managing Excel Pivot Tables for reporting and strategic decision-making.
Academic Affairs Liaison
• Set up and importing Canvas templates and time trackers for Centers.
• Disseminate links for Supervisor Evaluations, following up with Centers, and ensuring the grades are entered in Canvas.
• Support Center-based tasks on deliverables for Registration (e.g., entering placement names for recording on the transcript).
Other:
Participate as needed and possibly present at the CIEE Global Internship
Conference, CIEE Annual Conference or at other professional meetings; engage in regular
meetings with leadership of other CIEE Centers, and units across CIEE, and contribute to
ongoing program and operational improvement; other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring:
• Seasoned professionals with a minimum of three years' experience in a similar position.
• Study abroad experience preferred.
• A Bachelor's degree Business, Sales and Marketing, HR or other related field or equivalent is required; a Master's degree is often preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
• Thought leadership – Ability to challenge the way we do business, encourage new
ideas/approaches, and understand broader implications of a wide range of business issues.
• Communication – Superior written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to effectively communicate with students, U.S. university partners, faculty, local authorities, and
CIEE staff internationally.
• Interpersonal skills – Ability to engender the trust and confidence of several stakeholders and
be able to deal effectively with a wide variety of often sensitive issues.
