Senior Optical Engineer – Quantum Computing
Location: Munich, Germany
Are you fascinated by precision optics and high-performance laser systems? Do you love the challenge of transforming bold concepts into working hardware? Join a cutting-edge European quantum computing company and help build the optical backbone of tomorrow’s quantum processors.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, assemble, and align advanced free-space and fiber-based optical systems for neutral atom control.
- Engineer robust optomechanical assemblies with a focus on alignment, stability, and modularity.
- Collaborate on custom optics, laser subsystems, and integrated optomechanical designs.
- Automate and monitor optical systems for long-term reliability.
- Troubleshoot and refine complex optical setups, developing clever diagnostic tools along the way.
- Document designs and procedures, contributing to design reviews and continuous improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
- Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- 5–8+ years of hands-on experience designing, assembling, and aligning optical systems.
- Proficiency with CAD and optical design tools (e.g. Zemax, SolidWorks).
- Strong knowledge of lasers, modulators, high-NA systems; bonus if you’ve worked with optical resonators or microscopy.
- Passion for taking ideas from concept to prototype and iterating toward perfection.
- A genuine enthusiasm for optics—solving problems, fine-tuning systems, and pushing limits.
